About Us
United by heritage. Driven by purpose.
The Kanem Daughters Network connects women across borders through shared heritage, economic opportunity, leadership, advocacy, culture, and solidarity.
A Network Built Around Women and Heritage
The Kanem Daughters Network (KDN) is a premier women-led transnational organization established to unite, empower, and advance the interests of women of Kanem heritage across the Lake Chad Basin and surrounding regions.
Headquartered in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, KDN connects women across modern national borders through shared heritage, culture, language, and economic interests.
KDN draws inspiration from the ancient Kanem Empire, a civilization known for sophisticated governance, trans-Saharan trade, scholarship, and military strength.
Today, the Network seeks to revive that spirit of excellence through the women of the present generation.
A United and Self-Sustaining Network
To create a self-sustaining, influential and united network of Kanem women who are politically conscious, economically empowered, socially dignified, and culturally proud, serving as catalysts for peace, prosperity, and development across the Lake Chad Basin.
Empowering Women Through Action
To mobilize, educate, and economically empower women of the Kanem heritage through strategic advocacy, business incubation, skills training, political participation, and transnational solidarity.
We also work to preserve the cultural heritage and moral values of the ancient Kanem civilization.
